For the next few years she exhibited her drawings in and around New England and the southem states. Her first solo drawing exhibit was held at Dawson's Grist Mill Gallery in Chester, Vermont in 1981. Returning to the East coast in 1987, Nolan bought a farm and began to raise sheep to complement her long held affinity for spinning and dyeing wool. Although she continued to create primarily in fiber, she also participated in workshops in painting, printmaking, collage, and sculpture, believing that each new discipline leamed would add further dimension to any artistic endeavor. As an extension of this philosophy, she decided to continue her formal education and began to pursue the study of Art Therapy.
